After surfing the web, I have learned that there
are several international agencies out there that are dedicated to fostering
the well-being of children, families, and the early childhood field as a whole.
The first organization that I found to be worthwhile is called International
Early Childhood Education. I chose this organization because they support the
well-being of young children and their families. “ICF provides early childhood
education training and technical assistance, conducts research and evaluation,
and supports corporate child care in India by guiding clients through projects
and planning processes that are grounded in research” (International Early
Childhood Education, 2013, para. 1). Although, I like what this organization is
doing, they are station in India, and they don’t have anything available in my
field of expertise. According to their website, they do have job opportunities
for those who are interested in “tackling some of the major challenges facing
early childhood education in India” (International Early Childhood Education,
2013, para. 1).
The job opportunities are:
Preferred
Skills/Experience:
§ Refinery and petrochemical operations and use of refinery
optimization models.
§ Knowledge of crude/product pipeline operations, marine
operations and distribution networks.
§ North America and
International experience

The second organization
that I found to be worthwhile is the Association
for Childhood Education
International. I chose this organization because their “mission
is to promote and support the optimal education, development, and well-being
of children worldwide,
and to influence the professional growth of educators and the efforts of others
who are committed to the needs of children in a changing society” (Association
for Children Education International, 2013, para. 1). I think this program
would be good for students who are just finishing graduate school because they
only excepting interns.
Job opportunities/Requirements
Interns should be
enrolled in a graduate degree program that focuses on global education issues
with a particular interest in children's education. A focus on one specific
aspect of childhood education, such as basic education or early childhood
development, is also acceptable. Interns, who have had some international
experience working or living outside the U.S., are preferred.
Internships
typically range from 8 -12 weeks. All interns must reside in the Washington,
D.C., metropolitan area during their assignment and are responsible for
arranging their own housing and transportation. Interns are based at the ACEI
Headquarters located at 1101 16th Street NW, Washington DC, 20036, a few blocks
north of the White House.
ACEI offers a
monthly stipend.

The third
organization that I found to be worthwhile is the International Play Association.
I chose this organization because they express the importance of play in young
child’s development. International Play Association “purpose
is to protect, preserve and promote the child’s right to play as a fundamental
human right” (International
Play Association, n.d., para. 1). Although International Play Association is
not a job parse, it seems like a great organization to become a member of.
Requirements are:
The only requirement
is an “interest in re-connecting young children with nature” and members come
from diverse backgrounds, including “architects, environmentalists, engineers,
health professionals and early childhood educators” (World Forum Foundation, n.d.).
